Decorah Clinic Physicians – Mayo Health System at Winneshiek Medical Center Position Description: A BC/BE eligible Internal Medicine, Family Practice, or Emergency Medicine physician is needed to staff an Emergency Department with a volume of 7,500 annual visits. The Emergency physicians are members of Decorah Clinic Physicians-Mayo Health System, a 17-physician multi-specialty group consisting of 7 family physicians, 2 internists, general surgeon, otolaryngologist, urologist, orthopedist, and 2 radiologists.
Decorah Clinic Physicians in Decorah, Iowa is an affiliate organization of Mayo Health System, which is comprised of 12 organizations practicing in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa. Decorah Clinic Physicians and Winneshiek Medical Center entered into a unique agreement within Mayo Health System in April 2005, which provides for both a management services and physician’s services agreement between the entities. As a result of this new relationship, Decorah Clinic Physicians has contracted with Winneshiek Medical Center to provide ER services by providing up to 5 FTE physicians.
Hospital Statistics: Winneshiek Medical Center is a 25-bed hospital in Decorah, Iowa. Recent improvements include a 6 bed ICU/SCU and a completely renovated med/surg unit. A building project was recently done which includes a new same day surgery area, an expanded radiology department, and a new emergency room. The new ER tripled the ER space and consists of 6 exam rooms, specialized gyn and ortho rooms, and 3 additional trauma/exam rooms organized around a central nursing station. Qualifications: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine, Family Practice, or Internal Medicine. Experience desired. ACLS, ATLS, and PALS required. Hours: Physician is required to work a minimum yearly average of twelve 12-hour shifts/month. 24-hour shifts are available as well.
Compensation: Rate paid for hours worked includes compensation for vacation, holiday, and sick pay. Physicians will receive generous Mayo Health System benefits including pension, malpractice, medical and dental benefits, life and disability insurance. Additionally, a $6000 annual stipend for CME expenses is included.
